RIDGE MANAGEMENT BOARD (RMB)
The Ridge Management Board (RMB) was constituted by the Government of NCT of Delhi vide order dated 6th October, 1995 consisting of 8 officers including Chief Secretary, Delhi; Finance Secretary, Delhi; Vice chairman, DDA; Secretary (Env. & Forest); Conservator of Forest and Deputy Conservator of Forest along with representatives from 2 NGOs. The same was recognised by the Hon’ble Supreme Court vide order dated 29th September, 1995 in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 4677 of 1985 titled ‘M.C. Mehta vs. Union of India & Ors.’

The Board has been entrusted with the following functions:
- Execution of the management scheme for the Ridge forests as the green lungs of Delhi;
- Protection of the boundary and boundary fences of the Ridge;
- Preparation and execution of detailed plans for up gradation of the Ridge in accordance with sound silvicultural practices applicable to city forests and nature resources;
- Control of the usage by the public of such areas of the Ridge forests as may be declared as ‘open’ by the Board;
- Ensuring that there are no encroachments in excess of the areas allotted to the lawful allottees, till they are shifted from the Ridge forest under appropriate orders;
- Any other functions ancillary to the above purposes.
