The Delhi Ridge Management Board (DRMB) has been constituted vide gazette notification dated 10.06.2026 under the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 in compliance with the judgment dated 11.11.2025 of the Hon’ble Supreme Court in W.P.(C) 202/1995 T.N. Godavarman Thirumulpad versus Union of India & Ors. and in pursuance of the gazette notification dated 01.12.2025 of the Ministry of Environment, Forests & Climate Change, Govt. of India. The Board functions as the apex authority for protecting, restoring, and regulating activities within the Delhi Ridge and the Morphological Ridge to safeguard the capital’s most vital ecological reserve.

Functions of the Delhi Ridge Management Board (DRMB)

Single-Window Authority

The Board shall function as the single-window authority in all matters pertaining to the Delhi Ridge and the Morphological Ridge.

Preservation & Protection

Preserve the Delhi Ridge and the Morphological Ridge in their pristine condition by removing encroachments and taking all necessary measures for their protection and improvement.

Removal of Encroachments

Remove all encroachments from the Delhi Ridge as well as the Morphological Ridge in accordance with applicable laws and judicial directions.

Identification of Morphological Ridge

Ensure completion of the identification process of the Morphological Ridge in accordance with the Hon'ble Supreme Court Order dated 08 February 2023 and submit compliance reports.

Ecological Restoration

Ensure protection, scientific management, ecological restoration, afforestation and habitat conservation of the Delhi Ridge and the Morphological Ridge.

Periodic Compliance Reports

Submit status reports every six months to the Hon'ble Supreme Court regarding the Delhi Ridge, Morphological Ridge and compliance with its directions.

Transparency & Public Participation

Maintain transparency through an official website, public notices, public consultations and timely publication of reports submitted before the Hon'ble Supreme Court or other competent authorities.

Coordination with Government Authorities

All authorities within the National Capital Territory of Delhi shall extend full cooperation and assistance to the Board in the discharge of its statutory duties.
